I stood on Pearl Street in Boulder and watched the Pride flag go up. There it was, flying over the center of this city in plain sight of anyone who happened to walk by. I've been thinking about what that moment means. Pride has always been about being seen. Fully, publicly, unapologetically seen. That's true in a good year. But this isn't a particularly good year, not for LGBTQ+ people, especially trans and nonbinary people. Across the country, we are watching the federal go

In 2026, Rocky Mountain Equality continued to work hard at the Colorado General Assembly to defend LGBTQ+ people and families across the state. We successfully advocated for legislation that will defend access to affirming healthcare, ensure safety and security for LGBTQ+ Coloradans, and protect all people in our state from a hostile federal government, while also fighting back against legislation that attacked our community.

The Colorado General Assembly passed HB26-1322, legislation that updates Colorado's prohibition on conversion therapy to be viewpoint-neutral in response to the U.S. Supreme Court's March 31 ruling in Chiles v. Salazar. The new law preserves Colorado's ban on the discredited and dangerous practice and extends the statute of limitations for survivors to bring medical malpractice claims.
