50+ PROGRAM

Rocky Mountain Equality (RMEQ) celebrates, supports, and connects LGBTQ+ community members ages 50 and up. Whether you’re looking for resources, social connection, or advocacy, RMEQ offers programs designed to foster well-being, dignity, and joy at every stage of life.

We know that older LGBTQ+ adults face unique challenges—from housing and healthcare to financial security and social connection. We’re here to provide community, advocacy, and practical support with your needs in mind.

PROGRAMS & SERVICES FOR OLDER ADULTS

QUEER AND AGING EVENT SERIES

Our biannual Queer and Aging events bring together experts and community members for resource-sharing, learning, and connection. Topics include financial planning, housing rights, health and wellness, elder abuse prevention, and more.

DOUBLE PLUS SUPPER CLUB

Every other month, our Double Plus Club gathers LGBTQ+ older adults for good food and great conversation. Hosted in collaboration with Boulder County’s Rainbow Elders Program, these evenings are all about connection and community. There is no cost to attend, but RSVPs are required due to space limitations.

50+ GAME NIGHT

Our monthly game night for older adults is an evening of fun, games, and laughter at the Equality Center of the Rocky Mountains.

RESOURCE NAVIGATION AND LGBTQ+ COMPETENT PROVIDERS

We provide case management services for LGBTQ+ older adults, helping connect you with resources for healthcare, housing, and more. We also have an entry point for mental health therapy for older adults who receive Medicare, Medicaid, or are uninsured/underinsured.

RECOVERY SUPPORT

Pride in Recovery offers LGBTQ+ specific peer-led substance use recovery support services, regardless of where an individual is in their recovery. This program can be used to complement your recovery journey.

VOLUNTEERING

RMEQ has many different opportunities to give back, mentor younger generations, and make a difference through our volunteer program.

SPEAKING OUT PROGRAM

Join our volunteer speaker's bureau where members from every part of the LGBTQ+ community share their stories to inspire change. We hold panels in churches, classrooms, healthcare facilities, and more.

50+ PRIDE MIXER

Each year during Pride Month, we host a special mixer for LGBTQ+ older adults to meet, mingle, and celebrate who we are. Keep an eye out in in May each year for date and time announcements.

SAPPHIC NEW YEAR'S EVE PARTY

An annual tradition, women ages 40+ ring in the New Year with music, dancing, and community connection. More details announced as it gets closer.

ELDER ABUSE PREVENTION AND RESOURCES

All of us deserve to live with dignity, respect, and purpose as we age. Abuse in later life denies us these rights. Abuse in later life refers to the mistreatment of older adults. It encompasses various types of behavior, including financial exploitation, neglect, or physical or sexual harm. This mistreatment can occur in an older person’s home, in a care facility, or in the community, and often involves a family member or other trusted individual.

Rocky Mountain Equality partners with Boulder County through the JCALL program (Justice Coalition on Abuse in Later Life) to provide outreach and education around ending abuse later in life.

Anyone can reach out to Boulder County’s advocate on abuse in later life: 303-441-1486. The advocate can provide more information on types and signs of abuse, reporting, and supports and resources available for those aged 50 and over.
