Youth Summer Camp 2023 Recap

Out Boulder County held its annual LGBTQ+ Youth Camp from August 7th-11th at Cal-Wood in Jamestown. With 18 youth, 6 counselors, and the wonderful staff at Cal-Wood, it was a trip no one will forget! The scenery was gorgeous, the activities were a blast, and the memories will last a lifetime.

Our service learning project involved helping Cal-Wood create slash piles to burn in the winter time to help clear out the dead wood for fire safety; we created 10 huge slash piles as a team! We had several arts and crafts, where we created little felted creatures and friends, learned how to embroider fabric, created friends with team building activities, and orienteered around Cal-Wood finding tree cookies. We shared coming out stories around the campfire, learned how to create a fire and shelter in the wilderness, and shared our fun talents with the group at a talent show.

Interested in attending next year? Our camp is open for LGBTQ+ youth ages 13-17. Applications are open from February - April. Keep an eye out and we hope to see you in 2024!

Thank you to our sponsors: Caring for Colorado, Xcel energy, Micron, and additional individual donors. It is with their support, we are able to continue offering our camp for free and at no cost to our attendees.
