The Colorado Secretary of State’s validation of signatures for Ballot Initiative #110 confirms that Colorado voters will vote on another measure targeting LGBTQ+ youth in November 2026. An initiative banning transgender youth from school sports was validated.

“Coloradans don’t need outside interests to tell them how to raise their families or limit their gender-affirming or reproductive healthcare access,” said Bruce Parker, executive director of Rocky Mountain Equality.“

In the coming months we are going to hear intentional lies from anti-trans extremists about this ballot measure. They aren’t being honest about their agenda to erode privacy and access to credible medical care they don’t agree with. Their next targets are care for trans adults and abortion services if we let them get away with this.”

Initiative #110, titled “Prohibit Certain Surgeries on Minors,” would restrict access to evidence-based, medically supported gender-affirming care for transgender youth, overriding the decisions of families and their physicians. This would curtail the ability of Colorado parents to obtain gender-affirming medical care for their children, care that medical experts recognize as safe and effective when provided with appropriate evaluation and parental consent.

"As a Coloradan and an advocate for transgender people, I've seen firsthand what's at stake when politicians interfere with personal medical decisions,” said Bryn Long, member of Rocky Mountain Equality’s Colorado Trans Advocacy Committee. “This initiative doesn't protect children, it harms them by stripping away healthcare that their doctors, their parents, and the best available medical evidence support. Every transgender young person in this state deserves dignity, safety, and privacy when it comes to medical decisions."

Rocky Mountain Equality is mobilizing its network of advocates, community members, and partners through the Hands Off Colorado campaign. The effort will focus on voter education, grassroots organizing, and coalition-building with healthcare providers, families, and other organizations with shared values.
