Compensation: $70,000 Exempt, Full-time

Office Location: Office Locations in Boulder or Fort Collins 

Schedule: Monday – Friday, 9am – 5:30pm, with occasional nights and weekends

Key Responsibilities:

The Philanthropy Officer is responsible for prospecting, solicitation, cultivation, and stewardship of individual donors. This includes, but is not limited to, monthly supporters, participants in employee giving programs, and contributors to seasonal fundraising initiatives. This role is also responsible for planning and implementing annual giving campaigns which include digital and direct mail communications. They provide support to the Director of Philanthropy in building and maintaining positive relationships with new and existing donors. Additionally, the Philanthropy Officer is responsible for donor engagement and appreciation via event planning and execution.

 

Essential Functions


  • Provide support in bringing the Capital Campaign over the finish line in 2027 through direct solicitation of new and existing donors and liaising with internal and external parties regarding dedication opportunities, campaign progress communications, and the close of campaign event planning and execution.

  • Work with the Board of Directors on strategizing, prospecting, and cultivating financially advantageous and sound fundraising events, campaigns, and initiatives such as house parties, Sundance Film Festival-aligned events, and peer-to-peer fundraising campaigns. Regularly prepare and report back to the Board on progress toward fundraising goals and other key performance indicators (donor retention, upgrades/downgrades, etc.).

  • Support the planning, creation, and successful implementation of online giving campaigns, such as Colorado Gives Day. 

  • Write compelling fundraising copy and coordinate with the communications team to develop strategic campaign-specific communication calendars and materials across a variety of platforms. Support the development of the annual fundraising campaign calendar. 

  • Represent the organization in a professional and knowledgeable manner at internal and external events, tours, and meetings.

  • Utilize relationship-driven stewardship skills and moves management techniques to build rapport and maximize lifetime contributions of donors through engagement, retention, and cultivation.

  • Provide insight, ideas, and improvements in order to reach, engage, and show appreciation for supporters.

  • Support fundraising and cultivation events by assisting with space bookings and meeting preparation, sending invitations, planning, and providing materials, supplies, food and beverage, and staffing events.

  • Contact donors and provide excellent, accurate, and timely customer service regarding donation issues, such as returned checks, credit card declines, incorrect receipts, matching gifts, setting up/ending recurring donations, etc.

  • Assist with maintenance of informative and accurate data within the donor database system. Regularly update completed donor-facing activities, tracking metrics, and individual donor data to ensure effective and personally relevant communications and solicitations are delivered based on donor giving history and interests.

  • Review and proofread mailing lists for accuracy and to provide updates as needed for both general and segmented solicitation (LYBUNT/SYBUNT, monthly donors, etc.).

  • Maintain confidentiality and ensure compliance with related policies and laws.

  • Handle a variety of special projects and other duties as assigned.


Qualifications

  • Passionate about the mission of Rocky Mountain Equality and the larger LGBTQ+ movement.

  • Two years of experience in a fundraising environment and making direct solicitations of donors/funders strongly preferred.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Google Workplace Suite.

  • Experience with donor databases/CRMs. Neon CRM experience preferred.

  • Strong relationship-building and interpersonal skills with a donor-centered approach.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Strong organization and time management skills.

  • Ability to manage a portfolio independently while contributing to a collaborative team environment.

  • Knowledge of fundraising best practices and moves management.

  • Willingness to work early mornings, evenings, and weekends semi-frequently as needed for events and donor engagement.

  • This position requires work at a computer for three hours a day or more and the ability to refocus following numerous interruptions throughout the day.

  • Must have a valid driver’s license and safe driving record.

  • Bilingual Spanish/English language skills preferred.
