New numbers, same ask: Vote NO!

Through our Hands Off Colorado effort and the Families Not Politics coalition, we are continuing to mobilize voters across Colorado to defeat two anti-trans ballot measures, as well as one anti-immigrant measure. All three measures have been assigned their final ballot numbers and will appear on your November ballot as:

  • Amendment 81: Law Enforcement Communication with Federal Immigration Authorities

  • Proposition 134: Male and Female Participation in School and Collegiate Sports

  • Proposition 135: Prohibit Surgery on Minors in Response to Perception of Sex or Gender

Let’s be clear: these ballot measure names and their stated goals are misleading. If they pass, they will divide families and mandate discrimination against trans youth and their families and our immigrant communities. RMEQ is urging voters to reject these hateful measures. Read more about them.

How you can help:

We need your help to ensure that Colorado voters understand what’s at stake when they vote on Amendment 81, Prop 134, and Prop 135. You can see opportunities to get involved here, including phone banks, text banks, and door-to-door canvassing.

Rocky Mountain Equality is committed to making an impact wherever we can to ensure that LGBTQ+ Coloradans are protected and empowered to live as their authentic selves. Recently, RMEQ’s policy analyst Mark Lester traveled to Washington, D.C., to meet with Colorado's U.S. Senate and House of Representatives offices, as well as national LGBTQ+ movement organizations. We shared the unique challenges facing LGBTQ+ Coloradans and built connections that will help bring our community's experiences and priorities into conversations about federal policy.

As election day gets closer, RMEQ is working hard to ensure that our community’s voices are heard at the polls. Through tabling events, community partnerships, and information-sharing, we are letting voters know how to make sure that their voices are heard. If you or someone you know is a young person who wants to learn more about voting, find the RSVP for Your Vote, Your Future, here.

Have you or someone close to you been affected by recent developments in LGBTQ+ policy and politics?
