2025 Summer Youth Intern Cohort

We are thrilled to announce the launch of Rocky Mountain Equality’s Youth Internship Cohorts for Summer 2025, based in Boulder County and Northern Colorado! These groups of young leaders will be at the heart of planning and organizing some of our upcoming Summer Pride events, including Boulder, Longmont, Northern Colorado, Greeley, Loveland Pride, as well as planning a workshop retreat for the Ballroom community.


From event logistics and outreach to fostering a fun, inclusive space for everyone, their role is all about lifting the queer community and creating unforgettable experiences for LGBTQ+ youth in Boulder and beyond. Stay tuned for updates on their incredible work, and prepare for an exciting fall packed with fabulous events! We can’t wait to see what this amazing cohort brings.


Boulder Interns:



Cal (they) just graduated! They have been going to high school youth group and other RMEQ events for about four years. They are excited to get more queer and trans youth, especially those of color, involved in the ballroom scene. They have been involved in leadership in their theater troupe’s costume department as well as music community service in BVSD schools. They are passionate about art making, community engagement and making a difference where they can.



Basil (she) is in 9th grade. She has been an active member in the Boulder ballroom scene and she has been a part of RMEQ youth program for over 3 years. She wanted this internship because she loves ballroom and it has been an amazing go outlet for her, and she loves what RMEQ is doing.



Callum (they) is a sophomore where they’re actively involved in the arts through theater, drumline, and the National Art Honor Society. They love singing, playing guitar, and acting—but above all, they are deeply rooted in helping others in their daily life. Passionate about activism and equality, Callum joined RMEQ’s summer internship program to grow their ballroom skills and make a difference. Though new to ballroom and RMEQ, they’ve volunteered at the Night of Noise and May’s flag prep. This summer, they’re more than enthusiastic to collaborate with their fellow interns and build on their prior ballroom knowledge and experience.



Riot (he) is an upcoming junior. He has been involved with RMEQ for 4 years now and has gone to many social groups such as: Monday middle school group, Wednesday high school group and QT's. He has also attended RMEQ's summer camp, QTBIPOC retreat, day of silence/night of noise,queer dances, and spring fling kiki balls. Riot wanted to get this internship to help provide a community so joyful,needed and generally positive, ballroom has heavily impacted him and he wants to provide something that impactful. He also wants to get more connected to his community and spread the joy of ballroom. Riot has also been a part of Slay The Runway the past 3 years, making this year's his 4th. Riot loves cosplay, drag, ballroom, drawing, music, theater, poetry and writing, designing and fashion. This summer, on top of this internship, riot will be volunteering at a kids camp in Longmont. Riot is overjoyed to be one of the chosen interns at RMEQ this summer.


Fort Collins Interns:


Stephanie (she) is excited to build leadership skills, gain real work experience, be more involved with the community, and make some money at the same time. She has volunteered at Off the Hook Arts and Living Her Legacy events in 2023-2024. In school she is involved in honors classes and Art Service. She completed the Larimer County Entrepreneur Tournament twice, winning "Most Innovative Idea" both years. She enjoys art and creating things.



Genevieve (she) is going to be a junior. She has not been involved with REMQ before.

Genevieve is excited to have this internship because she wants to help the community and meet new people. She has volunteered previously at CSU’s Environmental Learning Center as an assistant camp counselor, She is the historian for Fossil’s National Art Honors Society, she is a member of the National Honors Society, and she is a member of the self defense club. Genevieve’s hobbies include any kind of art and spending time outdoors paddle boarding, hiking, or biking.



Ali (she/they) just finished her sophomore year. Alice has done two previous internships with Rocky Mountain Equality, and volunteers as much as possible. They wanted to get this internship because of her passion for activism and working with queer people in her community, sher is excited to make new friends and continue doing the work that they are passionate about..She is the president of their school’s Key Club, and is looking forward to leading a GSA in the future. She loves film making, art, volunteering, and event planning.
