As I look back on 2024, I am so proud of what we have accomplished together. Rocky Mountain Equality was founded over 30 years ago on the belief that every LGBTQ+ person deserves to live with dignity, safety, and love. This past year, that mission has never been more critical—or more powerful. Through unwavering commitment and collective action, we have expanded our reach, strengthened our advocacy, and deepened our impact.

In 2024, we saw firsthand the power of community-driven change. With our programs and services, we provided life-saving mental health support, housing assistance, and direct aid to those who needed it most. Our financial assistance programs helped over 500 LGBTQ+ individuals and families facing hardship, ensuring that basic needs—like rent, food, and healthcare—were met.

At the heart of our work is the belief that advocacy and direct support must go hand in hand. That’s why we remained on the front lines of policy change in 2024, working with lawmakers and community partners to defend LGBTQ+ rights at every level. From advocating for inclusive healthcare policies to fighting against discriminatory legislation, we stood firm in our resolve: no one should be denied their rights simply for being who they are.

We mobilized community members and worked with community partners to defeat over 30 anti-trans ballot initiatives before they even made it onto the ballot in Colorado, stopping harmful policies before they could take root. At the same time, we championed progress, successfully helping to pass a ballot initiative to remove the ban on same-sex marriage from the Colorado constitution, ensuring the freedom to marry for all Coloradans. These victories reaffirm our belief that change is possible when we are united and committed to our community.

Beyond our advocacy and services, we prioritized joy, resilience, and belonging. Whether through community events, support groups, or youth programming, we created spaces where LGBTQ+ people could thrive, not just survive. Our annual Pride events and gatherings brought together thousands in celebration, reminding us that none of us are alone.

As we move forward into 2025, we do so with renewed determination. The challenges ahead—presented by a federal administration targeting LGBTQ+ people, immigrants, and other marginalized communities—may be great, but our commitment remains. We will continue to fight for justice, expand critical resources, and uplift every LGBTQ+ person who turns to us for support.

This work is only possible because of you: our supporters, volunteers, and community members who show up time and time again. Thank you for believing in this mission and for ensuring that Rocky Mountain Equality remains a source of hope and strength as we face an uncertain and difficult future.

Mardi Moore, CEO of Rocky Mountain Equality
