LGBTQ+ TRAINING

Our training program is an important part of realizing our vision of an inclusive, just, and connected world where LGBTQ+ people and communities thrive.

Trainings are conducted by our Education Coordinator, Castro (they/elle) and are available for any type of organization. Generally training sessions run 90 minutes. We are also available for longer, more in-depth sessions. We can provide sessions virtually, in-person, or in hybrid settings.

For the most meaningful impact, we encourage ongoing training. This can include recurring training sessions, multiple topics covered in ongoing sessions, different topics targeted for different employee groups, and more. We are happy to discuss how this can best be leveraged in your organization.

TRAINING TOPICS

TRAINING TOPICS

Our program excels at strengthening LGBTQ+ cultural competency and its practical application. Our introductory session, Beyond Binary: LGBTQ+ Core Concepts and Best Practices, establishes a shared foundation by covering sex assigned at birth, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, and inclusive language strategies for names, pronouns, and navigating mistakes. This training is our recommended starting point for building an inclusive environment and serves as the base for deeper, multi-session learning.

Below are some of the topics we can cover. If you don't see what you're looking for, email Castro at castro@rmequality.org to ask about customized content to meet your needs.

We partner with HR, staff, and leadership to assess both policy and practice through an LGBTQ+ equity lens, with special attention to trans and gender-diverse inclusion. Through facilitated listening sessions, we identify strengths, gaps, and opportunities, and translate insights into actionable recommendations, training strategies, and ongoing support. Our approach is collaborative, practical, and focused on creating meaningful, sustainable change.

All consulting engagements are bespoke, with pricing tailored to the scope, depth, and goals of each partnership informed by the subject matter experts at RMEQ that we involve.

TESTIMONIALS

"I kind of lived in fear of making mistakes with language, saying the wrong pronoun or not keeping it correct throughout my encounters. After the presentation I feel more comfortable just making a mistake if that is what happens, and getting over it. This person in front of me isn't going to hate me or call me a bigot if my error is honest and correctable, and I make that effort."

“Thank you for the powerful work you’re doing, and for hosting this training with us! The most actionable training I’ve participated in, and I so appreciate your 'fix it and move on' mentality.”
