Yesterday’s attack on a peaceful vigil in the heart of our community is not only a vile assault on our Jewish community—it is an attack on us all. Those bearing the physical wounds from this unprovoked violence are in pain today—we wish them successful and speedy recoveries. Our hearts are also with those bearing psychological wounds, who may find themselves fearful today—we hope you are surrounded by love to lighten the burden.
We must seek protection and care for all who are targeted because of their beliefs, culture, and identity, as well as those who peacefully protest for an end to suffering, discrimination, and violence. We must also condemn and stand against the people who perpetuate, encourage, and carry out such actions.
We are united in condemning acts of antisemitism, hate, and violence and are committed to bridging differences through collaboration, empathy, and recognition of our shared humanity.
Community is both a place and a sense of fellowship. We stand in support of and side by side with the City of Boulder and Boulder County’s vibrant Jewish community at this difficult time. Our differences, and our ability to respect and work through those differences, are what make the fabric of our community strong. We welcome all who wish to cultivate a better Boulder to join us in this commitment.
Thank you to the City of Boulder, the Boulder Chamber of Commerce, the Downtown Boulder Partnership, and the numerous nonprofits, businesses, and local officials who have signed on in support of this statement.
