There are two ways candidates in Colorado can get on the ballot for 2026. One way is through county caucuses.
What are county caucuses? They're local meetings where registered Democrats gather to help decide who gets on the ballot. Democratic Party county caucuses take place between March 3 and March 7. These dates vary by county, and some will be held in-person, while others will be virtual.
Caucuses happen before the primary election, which will be June 30, 2026. Any registered democrat can participate and help elect candidates who will fight for equality!
Why does it matter to you? This is where everyday people actually have power. You get to help decide who's even on that ballot. You're not just picking between candidates someone else chose, you're part of choosing them.
The bottom line:Â If you've ever felt like you want more say in politics than just voting once a year, this is it. This is where regular people can impact the ballot before elections even begin.
