BOULDER COUNTY COURTHOUSE HISTORIC LANDMARK DESIGNATION AND RAINBOWS OVER BOULDER COUNTY FLAG RAISING

Friday, May 30, 2025

10am - 12pm

Boulder County Courthouse

1325 Pearl St, Boulder, CO 80302

DETAILS

Join Rocky Mountain Equality, Boulder County, and Downtown Boulder Partnership as we celebrate the official unveiling of the National Historic Landmark plaque at the Boulder County Courthouse and the Rainbows Over Boulder County flag raising for Pride Month.

In 1975, Boulder County Clerk Clela Rorex made history within these very walls by issuing the nation’s first same-sex marriage licenses long before it was widely accepted. Her trailblazing actions, rooted in justice and equality, laid the foundation for a national movement that continues to this day. This designation recognizes the courthouse’s vital role in the fight for marriage equality and LGBTQ+ rights.

This commemoration coincides with the Rainbows Over Boulder County ceremonial flag raising that marks the beginning of Pride Month in Boulder. Together, these events celebrate our past and reaffirm our shared commitment to equality for future generations.

Please join us for this momentous occasion as we lift our flags, our voices, and our shared history.
